For 70-odd minutes this one was locked tight, but El Relleno found their breakthrough when it mattered and held on for a 2-1 win over Weston Villa. Alejandro Trabattoni was the man who cracked it open, scoring in the 72nd minute to finally put El Relleno ahead. Four minutes later, Nacho Brown doubled the lead, finishing off a Fernando Falco assist to make it 2-0 and seemingly put the game to bed.
Weston Villa weren’t quite done — Elias Bruzual converted a penalty in the 85th minute to halve the deficit and set up a tense closing stretch, but El Relleno saw it out. Nacho Brown’s earlier booking in the 54th and a yellow for Santos Gonzalez Victorica in the 77th added a competitive edge to a hard-fought victory.
With seven points from their opening three matches, El Relleno sit third in the UFL standings, level on points with defending champions Miami Sporting and only two behind leaders 1512 FC. Their unbeaten start has established them as serious contenders near the top of the table. While their six goals scored may not match the explosive numbers of some of their rivals, their ability to grind out difficult victories could prove just as valuable over the course of the season.
Weston Villa, meanwhile, find themselves in a difficult position, sitting ninth with just one point from three matches and occupying one of the relegation places. Despite another defeat, their resistance against one of the league’s unbeaten teams showed signs of competitiveness. However, with the pressure beginning to build at the bottom of the table, Weston must quickly turn encouraging moments into results to avoid falling further behind the teams fighting for safety.
